Music and Rythms

Music is an intergal part of Capoeira. Berimbau, is a leading musical instrument, which dictates the rythm and sets the pace of the Capoeira game.
In ABADA Capoeira we practice many games, such as:

Sao Bento Grande Regional the most famous, fast paced energetic game with many kicks and possibily of takedowns.

Benguela a slower game with constant movement, where players do more ground movements, and stay close to each other, while avoiding direct contact, a very technical game, which is excellent for developing tactical skills.

Iuna is a game of graduated students, which utilizes advanced movements, floreous (acrobatic elements). During this rythm, only clapping is allowed, i.e. there is no singing.

Amazonas a special game, where players, mimic movements of animals. Also a very technical game.

A very good resource for Capoeira song lyrics, can be found within the Abada Capoeira washington DC web site. Abada songs lyrics
